"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." - Isaiah 43:18-19 Every year between Christmas and New Year's Day, my husband and I take some time to mentally recap the passing year. Normally, we even write ourselves a note reflecting on all the major events that have occurred and what we are believing God for in the upcoming new year. Believe it or not, it is already that time again! If you're anything like me, your 2009 has been filled with experiences like taking risks to grow, and possibly a few missed opportunities. Fresh, new understanding, and old obstacles lingering. Stressful times, and times of great enjoyment. Seeking God diligently, and at times feeling like a slacker. Looking back through 2009, there is a mixture of both wins, and things that seemed to fall short. I thank God that He will finish the work He has started in me though, and in you as well! We can be hard on ourselves as women of faith and business women. We have high expectations for ourselves and big faith to see positive things happening around us consistently. How do we deal with disappointment? How do we reconcile unmet expectations? What should we do when 2009 goals are left on the table, unresolved? In Ecclesiastes, scripture tells us that, "There is an appointed time for everything." If you are feeling disappointed because a 2009 goal will be left incomplete and unaccomplished, all is not lost! Maybe your goal is valid, but God's timing is still on its way. Look at Sarah, Abraham's wife. She had a valid request to be a mother, although had to wait for quite some time! God is faithful and His promises will be kept. His purposes will be fulfilled. Leave this year knowing that you rest in His care, as you move forward into 2010.
