Aloha!
I just got back from a family vacation in Hawaii. What a thrill it was to see some sunshine and sand in January! Wish you all could have come with me for some aloha-therapy! Become my friend on Facebook (search for Krista Dunk) and you can see some of my Hawaii photos - Whales, dolphins, blowholes, a canoe race, sunsets, & more. Unfortunately, I also brought back a ruptured ear drum, so if you would, please keep me in your prayers for healing. Thank you!

Whether large or small, take a step forward towards your God-given destiny today.

Please keep reading - this newsletter edition has some great announcements, tips, ads, and our feature article, just for you. And don't forget...KBWomen Chapters are opening in several cities next month! www.KBWomen.com/chapters.htm

     Be Rare!   by Krista Dunk

"How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'" -Isaiah 52:7

Ah yes, good news. How inspiring and helpful it is to receive it, and how thankful I feel towards the people who offer it. Recently, I was reading in Numbers about when God sent out the 12 (one man from each tribe) to survey, spy and report on the Promise Land that the Israelites were to inherit. Here is one section of it:

"Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.  But the men who had gone up with him said, 'We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are.' And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored."
- Numbers Chapters 13-14 (read all)

In this Biblical account, it is interesting to see the human tendency towards negativity in action. Only 2 out of the 12 "spies" came back with encouragement (filling others with courage), and could "see" victory for the Israelites. After reading this, I decided to do the math. It ends up being a whopping 83% negative report.

Negative reports say things like, "We'll never make it. It will never work. It's too hard. Shrink back. We are too weak. Have fear." Think about the nightly news. I bet it's not outrageous to claim that 83% are negative reports. Magazines and ads tell us we don't measure up and to be "catty" and competitive. Think about the general population that you come in contact with daily. Are only 17% positive and encouraging, giving you messages of support and peace? Could be. I'm not even sure I can trust my own mind to give me good news 100% of the time!

Women in business, here is my word of advice for all of us; Be in the 17%. Be RARE! Encouragement is rare. A positive perspective is rare. A, "You can do it" message is rare. There is just too little of it, and we all so desperately need it. You have the opportunity to be very attractive and valuable by shining your light - the light of God within. I am not necessarily talking about evangelizing or preaching; I'm talking about being a source of strength and hope for a world that is tired, beat-down and dry inside.

Be authentically hopeful and helpful to others, and then see what happens! Your network and business will grow. People will be drawn to you, and will be inspired by you. When we can be salt and light in the world, we will refresh others. They will see a difference and wonder what we've got. We have our hope in the Lord!

Business Tip:

Do you have a business blog? If not, you may want to consider starting one to get more online exposure for your business.

When blogging, be sure to give valuable information that your target audience will want to read, as well as some information about your sales, products and services. Having all posts be sales messages may turn people off.
