Hello Ladies! Businesses can sometimes experience a "summer slowdown". If you have some spare time in July, take advantage of it & spend some time on planning. Do you have clear purpose & vision? Is your business plan completed? Next steps & goals set? Planning should be fun, not daunting. Let the creative energy flow right from God, to you!

July is a family vacation month for both of us! Nevertheless, we won't be leaving our KBWomen duties behind (nor do we want to). Forgive us though, if we don't respond as quickly as usual to e-mails, tweets & other communications. Blessings...

Business Plans!     Krista Dunk, with help from Audrey Godwin

In the last edition of *BLING*, our friend Audrey Godwin helped us start learning about business plans. We would venture to say that most small businesses do not have a business plan written down. Here is more advice from Audrey, specifically discussing the creation of a business' vision and mission:

Let's break down each of the components to help you write a plan that will move you to action.  We start with inspiration - the vision.  The vision for your company states what you want to create. Stephen Covey coined the phrase, "Begin with the end in mind".  Isaiah 46:10 says, "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done..."  To write your company's vision, ask the following questions, "What do I really want? If my company could be what I wanted in 25 years, what would it be?  What would be worth committing to?"  Proverbs 29:18 says, "where there is no vision, the people perish". The vision is intended to serve as a clear guide for choosing the current and future course of action.

Our mission states our purpose. It articulates why the business exists.  The vision states what you want to create, and the mission defines why you want to create it. The mission helps you with focusing on what is important.  This is where the purpose unfolds.  Questions to ask are, "What business am I in?  Who does the business serve and why does it matter to our customers?  What contribution is my company making to the society as a whole?"

As you can probably tell, these are some initial questions that all business owners need to ask themselves. By taking these action steps, people can increase their chances of success! Spend some time in prayer seeking God's will for your future and the future of your business (or career), then write the vision down. Even if you have an existing business (or desired career path), it's certainly not too late to do this!
